John Trask

USPTA Elite Professional Tennis Instructor. After switching careers from IT sales/consulting to tennis instruction and organization six years ago, John discovered a passion that was a welcome surprise – and which also made perfect sense. Growing up on the tip of Lake Superior, tennis was a sport that John played his whole life… but only three months, weather permitting, out of the year. Nonetheless, he competed in and helped lead his team to multiple sectional titles during his High School Career as a doubles player, then made the move to singles his senior season, the year his team (Duluth – Marshall Hilltoppers) took 2nd in the State. He then went to College in Santa Fe, NM where he continued to compete in club tennis for two years before trading in his tennis racquet for a racquetball one. He would go on to compete at the open/professional level before returning to the sport of tennis full time at the age of 26. In the years since, John has become USPTA Certified, coached players of all ages and skill levels during 5,000 plus on court hours, attended international conferences, and been recognized for his infectious passion, unique multidisciplinary approach, and results. John’s tennis teaching philosophy is rooted in recognizing “teachable moments” and helping his young players “understand personal accountability on the court first – and then the rest.”
